Description

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, water, and cream of tartar in a saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Stop stirring and allow the mixture to boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract.
  5. Divide mixture in half, coloring one half with red food coloring.
  6. Pour both mixtures onto a greased baking sheet.
  7. Allow to cool slightly, then score into pieces.
  8. Let cool completely before breaking into pieces.
