Description

A traditional Chinese pastry enjoyed during the New Year celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 200g sugar
  • 250ml water
  • 100g vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 50g sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add water and vegetable oil, and knead into a dough.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls.
  6. Flatten each ball and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  7. Place the pastries on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Best served fresh.
